About the I Ching
This video gives you a quick introduction to I-Ching (The Book of Changes) with a focus on reading the Eight Trigrams (八卦 [bāguà]). This video contains a PowerPoint slideshow along with narration to describe each image and more. I hope this will help you gain a very basic understanding of how to read each trigram as well as knowing its origin. There are many variations for the interpretation of the Book of Changes, the content from this video is largely based on lectures delivered by Professor 曾仕強 from National Taiwan Normal University, whose videos can be accessed on Youtube. In addition, I have conducted research on confirming the meaning as well as adding new sources. I hope you will enjoy the slides.
This video provides you information about the arrangements of the eight trigrams, namely the Earlier Heaven Arrangement 先天八卦[xiāntiān bāguà] and the Later Heaven Arrangement 後天八卦[hòutiān bāguà]. Up until today there are many variations to the interpretations of the Later Heaven Arrangement depending on what the practice or purpose it is for. In this video, I am only presenting the Later Heaven Arrangement in terms of seasonal changes. You are welcome to leave a comment to share with us what you know or think the reason behind the Later Heaven Arrangement.
The I Ching ( Pinyin Yi Jing ) dates back over 3,000 years orginally developed for oracle and developed into a book of wisdom from which Daoist and Confucianists drew inspiration . The authors of the I Ching made a profound effort to observe the relationship between man and the constantly changing nature of the universe . To find your fate and fortune in the I Ching you must find your hexagram. The name of the book in English, the ' Book of Changes' derives from the constant change between the forces of Yin and Yang as reflected in the 64 hexagrams ( lìu shí sì gùa) , known as gua () , which are combinations of straight and broken lines ( xiao). The I Ching was originally used for divination, kind of like palm reading or interpreting the stars. It differs from simple prognostication, however, in that it demands us, as diviners, to cultivate an understanding of the world and ourselves. Without this understanding, the text is useless

The legendary Fu Hsi (2953-2838) inventing the eight trigrams,
inspired by the markings on the back of a tortoise.
According to tradition the 8 trigrams were invented by the mythological emperor Fu Hsi. The I Ching was one of the earliest books on divination . The hexagrams are an early binary notation. Some claim the inventor of the binary system and father of the calculus system, Gottfried Leibniz ,was inspired after being shown the hexagram sequence by Father Joachim Bouvet, a Jesuit who had lived in China.
Recasts the oracle's ancient ideas into everyday terms that make it fast and easy to apply its enduring wisdom to contemporary life, featuring a summary, study questions, keywords, and an explanation of how each message relates to relationships, love, work, and projects.
The I Ching does not regard the future as fixed, but as a dynamic and the 64 hexagrams represent all the states of flux caused by the interaction of the forces of Yin and Yang and the questioner and the results apply to the question at the moment the question was asked .
In China, yarrow sticks are used, but in the West 3 coins are often used and here we use a random number generator .
